CIFP AVILÉS: General Information on the ERASMUS+ Programme

ERASMUS+ MOBILITY 2021-2027: ACTION KA102

In CIFP Avilés we will soon start the selection process of students who wish to carry out the FCT module within the Erasmus+ Mobility Programme in a European company related to the training cycle that the student is studying, and where it is ensured that he/she can meet the Objectives foreseen for the development of the same, and with full academic recognition in this regard.

The 7 CIFP of Asturias have joined together to form a Consortium, coordinated by the CIFP of Hospitality and Tourism of Gijón for the Higher Degree, called Higher Education with the new Erasmus+ programme, and by the CIFP La Laboral for the Intermediate Degree, called VET with the new Erasmus+ programme.

Before applying for the scholarship it is advisable that you read this documentation, as well as browse the website of the SEPIE (Spanish Service for the Internationalisation of Education) to get up to date. In addition, all the information will be visible and updated on this website.

1. WHAT IS THE ERASMUS+ VET MOBILITY PROGRAMME?

It is an educational mobility programme financed with EU funds whose objective is to provide students of an intermediate level training cycle with the possibility of a training stay for work experience in companies in the European Union. If the work placement in the company is satisfactorily completed, the CIFP will recognise it by qualifying the FCT module as APTO.

It is very important to take into account that in the Erasmus+ scholarships for intermediate level, the grant covers 100% of the costs of the mobility, the student undertakes to make a deposit of the same by means of the advance payment of the purchase of the flight tickets with travel insurance, amount that once the contract is signed will be paid to him/her and that in case of backing out or not doing the mobility, he/she will lose it.

2. WHO IS ELIGIBLE FOR AN ERASMUS+ EFP GRANT?

Enrolled students who meet the requirements established for this purpose and who submit their application within the required deadline and in the required form can apply for an Erasmus+ grant. All must meet the following general and specific requirements (depending on the option chosen):

  • GENERAL REQUIREMENTS:
    • Have an up-to-date COVID VACCINATION CERTIFICATE.
    • Residence in Spain.
    • Commit to comply with the obligations implicit in the programme.
    • Comply with the criteria for the selection of candidates that are established.
  • SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (OPTION 1):
    • To be enrolled in the 2nd year of a training cycle of Intermediate Level during the academic year 2021/2022 in the CIFP of Avilés.
    • Not having any module pending of 1st year.
    •  Pass all modules in the 1st Assessment of the academic year 2021/2022 and have clear academic options to be promoted to the FCT module in the 1st call (March 2022).
  • SPECIFIC REQUIREMENTS (OPTION 2):
    • To be a recent graduate in a Formative Cycle of Intermediate Level in the CIFP of Avilés (June / September of the academic year 2020-21 or December of the academic year 2021-22) and not be currently enrolled in any classroom teaching in the academic year 2021-22.

* In filling available vacancies, they shall have priority:

    • Students who have never benefited from a mobility grant.
    • Students who opt for Option 1 will have priority over Option 2 students.

Important: Any student who has failed to comply with the programme in previous years or who has had a negative evaluation or unfavourable reports on his/her participation (even if this has not entailed any other type of penalty in the past) will not be allowed to participate. 

The application of any participant who does not reach the minimum scores in any section of the scale or for any other reason considered by the Erasmus team may be rejected.

Students who do not hand in the documentation on time and do not get actively involved in the tasks to be carried out during the mobility, will lose the preference in favour of those who do, regardless of the score obtained in the selection process.

You can participate in a MAXIMUM of 2 Mobility activities, including all levels of education. This is important because the SEPIE will sanction the interested party legally and financially.

3. HOW MANY SPACES ARE AVAILABLE and WHICH COUNTRIES CAN I GO TO?

For the current call, the Centre has been granted 9 places (KA102). The destination would be Italy, but the possibility of other destinations such as Portugal, Germany or France could be studied, where the cost would be similar, and the companies would be of the same type or sector that you would access in case of doing the FCT here in Asturias.

4. HOW LONG WILL THE STAY LAST?

The stay for the FCT is about 65 days, from 18 April to 22 June 2022.

5. WHAT DO I GET WHEN I FINISH?

Academically: a recognition by the CIFP of Avilés as a PASS in the FCT module provided that the internship reports are positive, and you will also obtain the Europass document that will be added to your personal academic record. Personally: an unforgettable experience of great vital value that will give you confidence, security, maturity, conflict resolution skills, etc. Professionally: complementary training, both in terms of technology and language skills, as well as adding to your CV, which will open doors for you in the world of work. It will allow you to develop skills, competences and professional knowledge to function efficiently in an interdependent and highly competitive global economy. It will also provide you with the opportunity to establish important contacts for the future and increase your professional mobility.

6. WHEN AND HOW DO I HAVE TO APPLY?

You must formalise your participation by filling in the application form and providing the necessary documentation (see section 8 of this document).

You will need the application form correctly completed and signed in PDF format or scanned. Then, you will have to submit it within the stipulated deadline: from 10 November to 19 November 2022:

7. CRITERIA FOR THE SELECTION OF CANDIDATES:

Priority will be given to students who have not already received a grant to do the internship module in a European company. And students enrolled in 2nd year in 2021-22 will have priority over recent graduates.

All participating students must be able to guarantee the completion of the FCTs module in the third term (March 2022).

The CRITERIA to be taken into account for the selection of candidates, in case there are more applicants than places available, are:

    1. Academic record of the student in the 1st year of the training cyclehe/she is studying (1-10 points): average mark of the marks of all the professional modules, to one decimal place. It is compulsory for 2nd year students to have passed all the modules of the 1st evaluation of the academic year 2021-22. And with the guarantee of passing everything in March 2022.

                        Students who have recently graduated must provide a certificate of marks for the modules of the Cycle. This can be requested from the secretary’s office of the centre.

2.- Language Proficiency (1-15 points): A maximum of 10 points will be awarded for official certificates: 

      • 0.5 points for official A2 level certification in each language provided.
      • 1.0 point for the official B1 level certification in each language provided.
      • 2.5 points for official certification of level B2 in each language.
      • 3.5 points for official certification of level C1 in each language provided.
      • 5.0 points for official certification of level C2 in each language provided.
      • Other lower CEFR levels provided will be taken into account in case of a tie (A1).

 The interview in English or, if possible, in the language of the country of destination for the FCT, is a maximum of 5.0 points, and fluency, comprehension, vocabulary and pronunciation will be assessed (Very good: 1.25 points; Good: 1.0 point; Fair: 0.75 points; Limited: 0.5 points).

3.- Interest and degree of maturity of the pupil (1-35 points) which will be assessed through:

3.1 the Statement of Purpose submitted by the student in his/her APPLICATION to the coordinators (1-10 points).

3.2 Report drawn up by the pupil’s tutor in collaboration with the pupil’s teachers (1-10 points). Items to be assessed include: Degree of maturity and autonomy; Level of responsibility; Class attendance; Motivation, capacity for initiative and active participation; Capacity for organisation, relationships and teamwork; Correctness in verbal and non-verbal communication, and behaviour appropriate to each situation (Very good 10.0 points; Good: 7.5 points; Fair: 5.0 points; Limited: 2.5 points).

THIS STEP WILL NOT BE ASSESSED IN THE CASE OF NEWLY QUALIFIED STUDENTS.

3.3 Personal interview with the student (1-10 points): individual assessment of the student in the personal interview (Very good 10.0 points; Good:7.5 points; Fair:5.0 points; Bad:2.5 points).

3.4 5.0 points will be awarded if a company is provided as an internship provider, with a certificate from the company stating this.

The maximum score to be obtained would be 60 points. (50 points for recent graduates because point 3.2 is not taken into account).

 Students, whether recent graduates or not, who have already received a grant to do the FCT module will form part of a reserve list which will be used in the event that there are vacancies once the allocation has been completed (according to the established criteria).

Important: Any student who has failed to comply with the programme in previous years or who has had a negative evaluation or unfavourable reports on his/her participation (even if this has not entailed any other type of penalty in the past) will not be allowed to participate. 

The application of any participant who does not reach the minimum scores in any section of the scale or for any other reason considered by the Erasmus team may be rejected.

Students who do not hand in the documentation on time and do not get actively involved in the tasks to be carried out during the mobility, will lose the preference in favour of those who do, regardless of the score obtained in the selection process.

Applicants will be ranked in order of the marks obtained after adding all the sections together. In the event of a tie, the grade in the first section will be used as the tie-breaking criterion. In the event of a tie, the mark in the second section will be used as the tie-breaker, and so on. In the event of a tie in all the sections, a public draw will be held to determine the final order.

As many students will be selected as mobility grants available. If any of the selected students renounce to the Programme, the next student from the waiting list with the highest score will be incorporated.

 8. WHAT DOCUMENTS DO I HAVE TO PRESENT IN ORDER TO PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+?

Objectives and motivation of the student in which he/she explains why he/she wants to be selected for the Erasmus+ programme, how committed he/she is to the programme, his/her conditions of participation and his/her qualities as a candidate, there is a section in the Application form for you to tell us about it.

The documents to be submitted in digital form are:

– Application form (*) duly completed and signed.

– Up-to-date COVID vaccination certificate.

– Language certificate(s) issued by an official certifier.

The application form must be converted to PDF, and the rest of the documents must be scanned.

9. WILL IT COST ME MONEY TO PARTICIPATE IN ERASMUS+ EFP?

Our school does not charge any kind of fee or registration to participate in Erasmus+. The Erasmus+: VET for intermediate students cover 100% of the costs. However, as a guarantee of commitment to the execution of the mobility, the selected students and participants in the mobility commit themselves to manage and purchase the flight tickets with travel insurance, money that will be reimbursed once the contract is signed with the director of the CIFP coordinator of the Consortium, and that in case of backing out, will be forfeited. The maximum cost for travel, including insurance, will be 275€, if this amount is exceeded, it will be covered by the student.

The grants that are managed and requested to the EU are paid: 80%, after having purchased the trip with its insurance, within one month after signing the contract, and the remaining 20%, when the compulsory documentation is handed in, the 2nd language test is taken and the final survey is carried out. In other words, once the mobility has been successfully completed and the SEPIE approves the project and pays the remaining money.

10. WHAT COMMITMENTS DOES EACH PARTY UNDERTAKE?

The rights and obligations of each party are reflected both in the Erasmus Charter of the student and in the Erasmus Charter of the Entities.

THE CIFP OF AVILÉS:

    • To inform about the Erasmus+ programme and its conditions of participation.
    • Select candidates according to publicly known criteria.
    • To collaborate with the student in the search for a training placement adapted to the educational objectives corresponding to their study plan.
    • Comply with the principles set out in the Erasmus Charter.

THE APPLICANT:

    • Accept and comply with all the terms, conditions and terms of participation of the current call of the Erasmus+ Programme.
    • Arranging the necessary travel and travel insurance. You could receive logistical support from the CIFP for this.
    • Perform correctly and with a positive attitude the activities programmed in their Training Programme according to the indications of the sending and host institutions.
    • To be responsible for their conduct and use of the programme, as well as for the compensation of any expenses that may arise due to damage to the accommodation, company, etc., not covered by the contracted insurance.
    • The student selected for mobility is entitled to the rights set out in the Erasmus+ Student Charter.

THE HOST INSTITUTION:

    • To offer a programme of activities to be carried out by the student according to what is specified in the Training Programme.

11. PRACTICE MANAGEMENT (Miscellaneous issues):

1. Can I change company once I have started my internship?

NO, but you can change it as long as there is a justified cause of force majeure with the previous authorisation of the CIFP, and as long as there is an alternative company where you can continue with the FCT.

2. Will my internship be recognised on my return?

Yes, the school will give you “academic recognition” for the placement period, provided that you achieve the required achievements by the host company and if you fulfil the conditions required by the school and the participating company for recognition. The reports received must be favourable.

3. Do I have to pay back money if I give up the Erasmus+ EFP traineeship?

Yes, you must return all funds even if you have already started the mobility. However, if the withdrawal is due to force majeure, the SEPIE can ask you to return only the period of the traineeship not completed, and keep the support for the period completed, even if it is less than the minimum period established.

4. Do I have to submit my file with the activities carried out, even if my internships are not recognised with marks? my internship with marks?

It is compulsory to present the dossier with the activities carried out, issued by the host company and the certificate of stay. The certificate of stay is a document signed and stamped by the host company in which the exact start and end dates of the internship period are stated. A final report, a questionnaire reflecting your opinion on various aspects of your stay, must also be completed.

12. WHY AM I REQUIRED TO HAVE LINGUISTIC COMPETENCE?

If the mobility takes place in a non-Spanish speaking country, it is necessary that the candidate has knowledge, even if elementary (basic user: level A1/A2) of the native language of the country. Therefore, training courses will be organised through an online platform so that the student can either acquire a basic level or improve his/her knowledge of the language of the host country before going there. Both the completion of this course and the implicit level tests are compulsory in order to receive 100% of the grant and to complete the mobility successfully.
