Cancellation Erasmus+ Mobilities 2020-21

A year after the start of the pandemic, the situation we are experiencing has not improved much, nor is it encouraging. The numbers of infections are not disappearing, on the contrary, they are increasing, in some regions more than in others, and experts predict an imminent fourth wave caused by the new viral strains that are emerging and that are expected to be stronger in terms of their contagion, affecting young people more. This health insecurity is compounded by the restrictions imposed by many countries on access to their territories (preventive confinement for a week or 10 days, several PCRs upon arrival, possible vaccination cards… all at the participant’s expense), added to those of the partner companies themselves, which either do not accept anyone from outside their workforce, or they telework, or they have closed their workshops and facilities, making it even more difficult to find a host company. To this must be added the possible confinement of the participant in a hotel in the event of illness or, in the event of serious illness, hospitalisation (costs to be paid by the participant in advance and then later claimed by the insurance company), who will find themselves alone and far from their family in a situation of great need, adding to the undoubted concern of their family in this possible situation. And not forgetting that the hours of work experience not completed could mean not passing this FCT period. Too many obstacles and inconveniences that have led us to take the sad decision to cancel any student mobility action in CIFP Avilés during the current academic year 2020-21.

We hope that everything will change and soon we will be able to resume the mobility actions and we would like to thank all the participants for their interest and collaboration, hoping that some of you will have a new opportunity as recent graduates.
